Quality Control Manager

Quality Control Manager. This is a HANDS-ON position & time on the shop floor required.
Responsibilities for this position:
Develop, implement and maintain standards and procedures for the performance of Quality Assurance, Inspection and Test functions in a manufacturing environment
Establish controls and points to facilitate detection, correction and prevention of nonconforming materials, parts, assemblies and products
Design and communicate quality plans based upon the necessities of the specifications and customer requirements
Examining all information and instructions received from within the company and customers, subcontractors, suppliers, and incorporate requirements into company documents
Performing all duties of quality control inspection including material, dimensional, accepting or rejecting questionable or unsatisfactory conditions in materials or workmanship or referring to higher authority Br decision making.
Keeping informed of current and anticipated work activities and planning for and QA, QC work accordingly.
Maintaining all procedures, QA/QC manuals up-to-date
Keeping production supervisor informed of inspections activities and/or development and arising there from
Keeping all certificates of authorization, code stamps, welder qualification up-to-date
Planning, organizing, coordinating and directing inspection, towards company objectives of Quality Assurance and Quality Control
Attend and represent Company during ISO Audits and represent company during Customer Quality Audits as needed.
Interface with Outside Customer Inspection, Engineering, and/or Purchasing on all jobs as needed.
Maintaining Scrap reports, Vendors on-time performance, and internal audits.
Assure AQL levels are being checked and record.
Monitor and/or witness Shipping and Ship Preparation
Final Documentation Package and distribution to customer.
Minimum Skills, Education & Abilities
- H.S. Diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a quality manager in a metal fabrication environment .
- Ability to read and interpret specifications including technical drawings, blue prints, GDT.
- Good communication skills including the ability to receive oral and written instruction and provide information to internal and external customers, visitors, vendors and employees.
- Strong ability to pay attention to details.
- Self-starter with the ability to prioritize and organize work.
Minimum Physical Requirements
- 20/40 vision required with or without correction.
- Ability to hear and speak 100% of the workday.
- Use of hands 100% of the workday.
- Sedentary position, ability to sit and work at a workstation for 8 hours.
- Frequent walking, lifting, bending, stooping, twisting.
- Ability to lift, push, pull and carry up to 50 pounds frequently during the workday.
- Typical of a manufacturing environment. Exposure to dust, fumes, noise and vibration on a regular basis.
