Process Engineer

US Minerals is looking for a Process Engineer to join our growing organization! This position is responsible for the overall effectiveness of processes used in US Minerals plants.  The Process Engineer will help design, document and deploy the specific processes employed at every facility that optimizes throughput and cost while creating a safe, healthy and environmentally responsible work environment for all Associates.  

 

Environmental, Health & Safety Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deploy factory processes that comply with all OSHA and EPA regulations
  • Be familiar with US Minerals Environmental, Safety & Health (ES&H) policies, programs, and procedures and assist the organization in monitoring and achieving full compliance
  • Report all ES&H incidents (injuries, near misses, spills, or fugitive releases)
  • Follow all US Minerals facility and corporate ES&H procedures and practices
  • Attend and actively participate in facility ES&H meetings and forums that will drive employee involvement
  • Provide feedback and suggestions for ES&H program improvement
  • Participate in job safety analysis activities

 

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development of processes that optimize each site's ability to produce materials that consistently meet customer specifications and volume requirements at market competitive costs
  • Document every process to ensure all company associates fully comprehend how to successfully complete each step and to provide the basis for effective training of new associates
  • Based on the process design, set performance standards that assist Operations management in achieving full performance at each step in every plant
  • Develop and submit for consideration capital investment ideas that support the cost objectives of US Minerals' business plan
  • Assist the VP Operations in developing KPI's based on process capabilities and provide coaching to Operating Managers on how to optimize performance
  • Assist the VP Operations in developing and implementing the annual Capital spending plan
  • Support the Plant Managers in the training, development and appraisal of personnel
  • Make recommendations for special equipment and capital projects
  • Provide root cause analysis support of quality and performance issues when needed
  • Actively participate in corpoate and facility safety, environmental, security, cost savings and quality improvement programs

 

Position Qualifications:

  • BS in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering
  • 5 years of experience in a manufacturing facility, preferably in mining or minerals processing
  • Must possess through knowledge of crushing, screening and drying processes, as well as safety and environmental issues
  • Demonstrated team and leadership skills and a passion to deliver high quality standards
  • Strong  interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to effectively multitask and work on multiple projects concurrently
  • Fluency in using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
  • Excellent problem solving skills and strong presentation skills are also required

  • Employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Employee is occasionally required to climb stairs/ladders (including vertical)
  • Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job may include close vision
  • Must be physically capable of spending long hours sitting in an office environment
  • Must be "fit for duty"

Work Environment

Must be able to perform under the following conditions:

 

  • Work in awkward or confining workspaces
  • Work in elevated places
  • Work in outdoor environment
  • Work in noisy environment
  • Work in areas that are dusty and have some odor from chemicals and etc.
  • Safety is a job requirement
  • Able to work in Adverse Weather Conditions
