Aztec Plastics is seeking an experienced and conscientious Injection Molder with processing experience. Aztec Plastics is a family owned; full-service plastic injection molding company located in the West Loop of Chicago. Fifty plus years of plastics expertise positively impacts the production and qualification of critical, close-tolerance plastic components and sub-assemblies for many diverse industries and other high-performance applications. The ideal candidate will be responsible for mold setup and removal, material handling, machine maintenance, and basic operations. Prior injection molding experience with high heat resins, is required.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Mold set-up, removal, and changes
  • Troubleshooting mold machine problems with solutions,
  • Molding process set up and monitoring
  • Material handling including driving forklift and perform material handling and or tool preparation duties as needed
  • Machine maintenance
  • Basic operations as needed
  • Establish process parameters for all tooling and machinery
  • Work directly with Administration, Quality and Customers to improve overall product quality
  • Trouble-shoots processing problems assure molded products meet quality standards, monitor adjustments to molding parameters and tooling parameters.
  • Maintain scrap counts and address issues to maintain overall scrap goals
  • Will oversee new tool, material, and color samples
  • Knowledge of plastics, pressures, temperatures, speeds, and variables
  • Work closely with production manager and is responsible for oversight of shift and supervision of shift operations; may participate in Production scheduling
  • Follow Lean 5S guidelines
  • Utilize various computer programs

Required Skills/Experience:

  • Prior injection molding experience with high heat resins, is required
  • Production management experience is a plus
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. and stand for at least 2 consecutive hours
  • High School diploma or GED
  • Ability to train and learn new skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Communicates and works well with others
  • Must speak English, Spanish is a bonus
