Aluminum Automated Cell Set-up Technician

Cast Products, Inc., a TMA member company, is seeking a skilled Aluminum Automated Cell Set-Up Technician to join our team in Norridge, IL.

The independent, self-starter we seek will know the fundamentals of die-casting and/or injection molding (setting up and installing molds). Our new hire will be working with state of the art equipment, robotics, process control, machine maintenance and basic electrical. 

Major responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Setting up and making corrections to the die-casting process in order to achieve high quality castings.
• Coordinating duties with machine operators to ensure quality standards are met.
• Accountability for the proper set up of all aluminum machines in assigned work area.

The ideal hire will demonstrate basic math, reading, writing and comprehension skills and must also be proficient with computers and have the ability to troubleshoot. Basic mechanical skills required. Mold/Die-Cast Set-Up experience is a plus.

Typical Job Duties Include:

• Set up dies as directed by Aluminum Supervisor.
• Verify correct tool was received from the Tool Room.
• Visually inspect tool prior to set up.
• Select program for the job.
• Connect water line and check for water flow.
• Clean limit or proximity switches.
• Adjust die lube spray lines.
• Fill sprayers as needed.
• Check that correct alloy for the job is in the holding pot.
• Follow the complete operational procedure of the assigned machine.
• Be familiar with emergency procedures for both manual and automatic operation.
• Change rings on shot shaft as needed or directed.
• Produce castings as required.
• Complete the following documentation:
• Record all set-ups using the Die Set Analysis Report.
• Complete Tool Set-Up Verification sheet.
• Provide 1-5 shots and the Tool Set-Up Verification Tag to the first piece inspector.
