Metal Impact, a TMA member company in Elk Grove, IL has an opening for a Punch Press Set up man for 2nd and 3rd Shift.

This position is responsible for operating and set-up of all of the production equipment and training lower level operators. This role is considered a leader in the plant and may serve as a resource to others in the resolution of complex problems and issues.

  • Have you been responsible for set up, program changes and minor equipment maintenance in the past?
  • Are you able to successfully troubleshoot manufacturing equipment and use your expertise to solve problems and eliminate scrap, rework, and downtime?
  • Are you active with or interested in participating with Continuous Improvement Teams within the area to promote safety, quality, throughput and the addition of any new equipment?

Responsibilities:

  • Operate/setup all machinery in a safe manner
  • Setup equipment for all product types successfully. Inspects tooling and set up and makes programming changes as needed.
  • Should be actively involved in Continuous Improvement within the area to promote safety, quality, throughput and the addition of any new equipment
  • Troubleshoot equipment to determine problems that may arise
  • Trains all lower level operators.
  • Inspect finished parts for gauge thickness, defects and proper fit up
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Requirements:

  • 0-1 years of previous experience or equivalent knowledge
  • Basic reading, writing and arithmetic skills
  • Intermediate ability to troubleshoot equipment
  • Mechanical aptitude required
  • Must be able to handle physical, repetitive work and be able to stand on your feet for 8 hours a day
  • Must be able to read, follow detailed instructions and understand English
  • Must be able to distinguish between part numbers and sizes
  • Must understand and follow the quality policy and procedures - detect defects
  • Must follow all safety policies and procedures
  • Ability to read and work with blue prints
  • Ability to train, coordinate and communicate effectively with all departments
